I Am ˈneriSHed

When I first embarked on my journey of self-discovery, it felt like a long, romantic adventure. I did what most people do in relationships: I dated myself. I took myself to expensive restaurants, relishing the chance to leave the kids at home and indulge in something new and exciting. I dressed up for myself, wore what I loved, and chose scents that made me feel wonderful. If I couldn’t decide what to eat, it was perfectly fine because I could always schedule another date with myself later.

But like many relationships, the things I did to win myself over gradually faded when I thought I had arrived at unapologetic self-love. I believed self-love was about the tangible things it brought me. However, like any meaningful relationship, I wanted the love to last beyond the gifts. After a while, the material aspects were no longer enough. I knew I loved myself, but there was no deeper connection, no intimacy.

So, I started all over again. I began to be more intentional. That’s when I discovered my W.H.Y.—What’s Hurting You?  I realized that true self-love required nourishing myself from within.
